suzanne paschall
Suzanne has been writing for nearly 30 years. As a graduate of the Kansas State University Journalism & Mass Communications program (B.Sc. 1980), Suzanne wrote for two years for the Salina Journal, covering the education beat and general interest feature stories.
Discovering a facility for the human interest profile, she continued her writing career in New York City while working in the advertising and public relations businesses. Moving to Canada in 1983, she continued to write for magazines and was successful in publishing short stories in literary journals. Between 1983 and 1997 she acted in various management positions in public relations at both Hamilton’s McMaster University and the University of Saskatchewan. She served as PR Director at both institutions. In 1997 she left the U of S to establish her own communications firm, Paschall & Associates, Inc.
She completed a Masters degree in Adult Education (University of Calgary, 2003), during which she focused on research involving learning needs of women entrepreneurs in Canada. She has done two major research projects on rural women entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan, the first studies of their kind. The second of these is her final Masters Thesis completed and defended in January, 2003.
During her career she has written on many subjects, mostly focusing on arts and culture and medicine and technology. She has written stories on people like Sonja Bata (Bata Shoes); George Cohon (President of McDonald’s Canada); Garrick Ohlsson (concert pianist); Shirley Temple Black; Ian Smith (Prime Minister of Rhodesia); Jessica Savitch (television anchor woman).
She has written hundreds of articles for newspapers (The Salina Journal, The Toronto Star, The Wichita Eagle-Beacon, The Hutchinson News) and Canadian and American magazines including BRIDE’S, POLICE Magazine, Hamilton This Month, A La Carte, The Medical Post, Canadian Doctor, SkyWord (inflight of PWA), Canadian (inflight of Canadian Airlines), American Way (in flight of American Airlines) and others.
She has written in nearly every medium, including online publications, video, radio, CD-ROM, television, magazines and newspapers. She is also a songwriter and performing musician.
Suzanne currently resides in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
