Performing: Show Descriptions (Everything Old is New Again)

Suzanne Paschall and Tommy Dahl bring their musical, song-writing and performing talents to community venues in 2005-6 with nostalgic look over the shoulder in “Everything Old is New Again”.

Two 45-minute musical sets swing between classic popular standards from the 1940s and Paschall & Dahl’s “new standards”—originals from their new album called “Life Sentences”…songs which sound familiar, but aren’t. Selections like Hit That Jive Jack and Errand Girl for Rhythm (Nat King Cole hits recently made popular again by Diana Krall) intermingle with new Paschall & Dahl tunes that audiences will be sure to remember, such as Fragile Heart and Tea & Sympathy.

Suzanne and Tommy’s shows are warm, intimate and personal, and always FOR their audiences.

Suzanne has written songs for recording artists like Chantal Chamberland and for the stage. She plays piano, writes and sings. She has performed and recorded with other bands, including Jo’s Diner, The River Boys, Mark Kleiner Power Trio, Skin and Bone, and others. She has performed across Saskatchewan and western Canada. Life Sentences is her first full-length CD.

Tommy is a long-time favorite performer with the North Battleford Big Band, and a regular at the Saskatchewan International Jazz Festival. Tommy recently went home to Winnipeg, but returns to Saskatchewan for this tour. He has played keyboards, written and arranged musical works and album projects for Lorrie Church, Lisa dal Bello, Angela Kelman (helping her to form Farmer’s Daughter) and Wilma Groenen. He dazzles audiences with his amazing honky-tonk and boogie-woogie playing skills. He also sings, is a talented arranger, and is arranger/producer of Life Sentences.

Suzanne and Tommy are currently writing a musical, composing an original score for a television series, presenting songs to other recording artists, and already have another album project in the works. They are proud to be joined on this tour by well-known Saskatchewan musicians Bill Watson (drums) and Sheldon Corbett (saxophone).
